Dr. Olaniran, who is originally from Nigeria, is an attending physician and general nephrologist in the Division of Nephrology. Dr. Olaniran earned his medical degree at the University of Lagos, Nigeria before moving to the United States to complete a residency in internal medicine at Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx, New York, where he also served as Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Olaniran subsequently received advanced training in nephrology through the Harvard Medical School fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He also holds a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard University. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in nephrology and internal medicine, Dr. Olaniran joined the University of Texas Southwestern faculty in 2019 to pursue his primary clinical and research interest: kidney disorders in people with sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait. Dr. Olaniran’s interests outside of medicine include spending time with his wife and two children, traveling, and photography.
